Soapbox Project is a climate action nonprofit founded by Nivi Achanta that opened its flagship Seattle space in Belltown in January 2025\. It [describes its work](https://www.soapboxproject.org/about?ref=fypsf.com) as creating joyful community spaces to turn climate anxiety into connection, learning and action.

## Who it's actually for

People who care about climate and want company more than a committee. A Tuesday night here is part dinner party, part conversation and part action, so you can show up tired after work and still leave having done something.

It suits newcomers to Seattle in particular. Nivi Achanta [told GeekWire](https://www.geekwire.com/2025/climate-activism-and-community-building-startup-draws-tech-workers-seeking-camaraderie/?ref=fypsf.com) that many attendees are remote or hybrid workers who are new to the region and looking for community.

It is a weaker fit if you want to join a campaign with ongoing roles and deadlines. [350 Seattle](https://www.fypsf.com/seattle/communities/350-seattle/) is built for that.

## What they run

The Seattle space is open every Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm, [according to Soapbox](https://www.soapboxproject.org/engage?ref=fypsf.com). A typical night runs dinner and conversation from 6, a speaker, performance or discussion around 7, and choose-your-own-adventure action stations to finish. Each month has a theme; November's is spirituality.

Soapbox also hosts volunteer brunches, pop-ups and virtual events, and sends Changeletter, a free weekly climate action newsletter.

## What it costs

Tuesday tickets are pay what you can, with a suggested price of $10 on the [Seattle calendar](https://luma.com/soapboxseattle?ref=fypsf.com). Event pages list a $14 first-timer ticket, a $5-and-up tier for low-income guests, volunteers and members, a sliding scale and a pay-it-forward option, and note that a night costs about $28 per person to put on. Free tickets are available through a request form on each event page, funded in part by a 4Culture grant. A plant-based dinner is included.

## Where

2301 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121, in Belltown. Volunteer brunches are held elsewhere, with the address shared after registration.
