Net Impact SF Bay

Net Impact SF Bay

The San Francisco Bay Area professional chapter of Net Impact, connecting people who want their work to do some good, across sectors and career stages.

Disclosure: FYP hosts this chapter's regional hub. We're describing a community we're involved with, and we've tried to be as straight about it as we are about everyone else.

Who it's actually for

Professionals who want a peer group that crosses sectors instead of sitting inside one. Members come from public agencies, nonprofits, early stage startups and large companies, and the mix is the point. If you are the sustainability person at a big company and everyone you meet is the sustainability person at another big company, this is the corrective.

It also works if you are new to the region, or returning to impact work after time away, and want a network that spans the whole field rather than one corner of it.

It is a weaker fit if you want depth in a single sector. Breadth is the design, which means fewer people in the room working on your exact problem, and more people who can tell you how it looks from somewhere else entirely.

What they run

Thought leadership events, networking, and educational programming. Sessions have covered impact investing, affordable housing, social entrepreneurship, sustainability workshops and community cleanups, which is a fair sample of the range.

A Slack community runs alongside the events and is the most active channel between them.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no cost to join the chapter, and no membership to buy.

Where

San Francisco Bay Area.

How to start

Join the Slack and the newsletter through the hub page. Both are free, and the Slack is where you will see what is happening between events.
