A coworking space and event venue in SoMa that has made climate work its specialty, operating as the Center for Climate Innovators alongside its general membership.
Who it's actually for
Climate and nonprofit people who want colleagues without hiring any. If you are a solo founder, a remote employee of a distributed climate org, or one of two staff at a small nonprofit, this is the strongest fit in San Francisco, mostly because of who else is already in the building: the Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Consortium, the U.S. Green Building Council, the Anthropocene Institute, ActGreen, the Kataly Foundation, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and Upshift all work here.
It also fits organizers who need an event venue at something below commercial rates, and people who want a workspace with a social floor rather than a quiet one. There is a café and a tap lounge, and the programming assumes you want to talk to people.
It is a weaker fit if you need silence, or evening and weekend desk access. Coworking hours are weekdays only, nine to five.
What they run
A public events calendar on Luma covering both member life and open events. Recurring programming has included a monthly climate happy hour for members of the climate community, tea time on Tuesdays, Thursday game and karaoke nights, member lunches and seasonal parties. The space also hosts outside organizers, and a meaningful share of Bay Area impact events happen in this room.
What it costs
Coworking from $155 a month, dedicated desks from $319, private offices from $629. Hourly coworking is $5. Day passes drop to $14 on Meatless Mondays, if you bring a meat-free lunch, and on Fossil-Free Fridays, if you get there by sustainable transport.
Two programs are worth knowing about and are easy to miss on their site. The Climate Jumpstart Pack is $99 a month for three months and includes the monthly climate mixers. Mission-aligned membership is $150 a month for six months, by application, open to people working in climate activism, nonprofit and community work, LGBTQ+ advocacy, women's leadership and diversity initiatives. Climate and nonprofit events also get 10 percent off room rental.

Take a $14 Fossil-Free Friday day pass before committing to anything. If it fits and your work is climate or nonprofit, apply for mission-aligned membership rather than paying list price.
